Welcome to the Oscars :-)

Hey everyone,

It is crazy to see that yet another month has gone by without me updating this site! How is it that I seem to have less time or desire to do anything now when school is finished for me? It seems that work is doing a very good job of draining me!! I average at least a 10 hour day but usually longer ... don't get me wrong I am not complaining. I love to work and I love the challenge. It is nice to be doing something that keeps my attention, and requires me to use my brain once again. Reminds me of the old SISA days when Jenny would call me at work and I'd be like ... sorry babe but it's absolutely crazy busy here today, I'll talk later :-)  Remember those days Jen?  Some things are getting a little frustrating and at times I feel like I've bitten off more than I can chew but regardless I truly enjoy the headaches associated with it hehehe

I know I know ... you all must be thinking that I am completely crazy :-) Well I guess that I am. Nothing wrong with that ... but as many have told me I need to get a life outside of work. So if anyone is willing to help me out in that category let me know. For now unless I am forced to, my priority has been work. It seems that this is yet another issue that I procrastinate in hehehe

Now onto the title for this post. Since I've joined this day shift business there once again seems to be a ton of team building crap that goes on at work, we had our Royal Performance presentation on the 27th, and the theme was the Homeline Oscar's. The theory being that each little department within homeline would have to act out a scene from one of the fairy tales and then awards or Oscar's would be given out to the best in each category. Since I don't really have a team yet, I was part of the compliance team for Homeline and we were given the little mermaid to act out. Well I ended up playing Vanessa/Ursula in our little skit and as it turns out I also was the winner for best actress. I thought this was hilarious since I ended up screwing up my lines for about half the skit. I just said what came to mind :-) The judges said that I was the best bitch ever and that I had to be the winner ... who would've thought :-) So go through the album I know there are a ton of pic's but we had a great time and you'll get to see some of the day people that I hang out with now that I've left the "dark side" and "see the light".

I hope everyone is doing well ... and have avoided catching these nasty bugs that have been floating around. As for me, well I am now going into my 4th weekend of being sick grrrrrrrrrr I was doing much better last week, but on Sunday night my body decided that it wanted to have a repeat performance and that I should once again feel like shit. Ahh well, at least this time round I don't have a fever and I am able to go to work to spread my germs, since it is those lovely people who gave it to me in the first place!

ciao for now

Rant & Rave ...

Hey all,

It has been quite a long time since I have posted anything on here ... Not that I haven't had news to share, it has just been one of those moods that have taken over me where I am fed up with computers! I seem to spend too many hours in front of one when I am at work, that I have decided to take a break from it at home. Now that school is done, this is a much easier event. Plus I have been catching up on some much needed jig saw puzzle time :-) Yes I have started that again .... and ohh boy do I enjoy it! Jenny was very nice enough to assemble all the remaining IKEA furniture I had so now I have a coffee table to do puzzles on ... ohhh yeah baby that is one exciting event.

As for what has been happening with me ... well nothing too crazy. Since I was back in BC in November, I was unable to come out during the holiday period. That was quite difficult for me ... actually it was a bit depressing, as much as I have family here, it just isn't the same to not be around my parents. Jenny's trip out in the beginning of December was awesome, and a much needed week for me. It was nice to talk to someone who has known me for so many years, where I don't have to explain why something has happened or give the background story before they would understand the current events, and is able to keep up with all the drama that goes on. So thank you gal for coming out I loved it! Jen had said that I was a very different person from what I was a 1 1/2 yrs ago before starting nights, and it's true. Nights is not a normal thing and causes people's moods to change I guess ... I was already in not too great a shape after leaving SISA in BC, and I guess it only got worse as time went on. However, I think for most other people it wasn't as noticeable of a change.

That being said ... I am happy to announce that I am no longer working nights!!! I have accepted a position that is evenings with the bank so I work 12pm to 8pm monday to friday, right now its temporary as this is a project and we're unsure as to whether or not the project will be successful. However, the opportunity to be part of something new within the bank is very exciting ... and as many of you know I thrive off of the challenge that is involved with learning something new. Some of you have already gotten the update for this, as for others sorry for not letting you know sooner. But it's not that old news as this is now my 2nd week of switching to evenings. It will probably take some time to get used to the hours ... besides that the position is quite interesting and demanding (2 of my requirements for a job hehehe).

Now I got another rant to post ... I waited to see if I would calm down before posting anything on here ... even though I know family does read this blog, I have decided to post my frustrations on here. So here it goes ... I am tired of being stuck in this middle ground!!!!! This happens I think to most people who are of a different culture and are born in a country like canada. I am not fully "normal" in the eyes of the canadians ... since in many ways I am old fashioned, and because of a personal choice I follow my cultures upbringings. But here is the kicker ... nor am I really accepted in my own culture. Depending on who you talk to I am either a traitor to my culture because I am too canadian on certain issues, or for people who are close to my age I am a weird one because I should've converted to being fully canadian. I mean what the fuck!!! You can never seem to win, I could not be fully one culture or the other, and in a lot of ways I am quite canadian. Heck almost all of my friends are Canadian! But I was also raised by 2 armenians and was surrounded from a very young age with other armenian adults, a compromise should occur right? It seems that I have failed in choosing which aspects of each culture I should be following, at least that was what I was told this weekend. I am not going to bother going into details as to why I am bringing this up ... but those in my family who were part of this issue know that I am talking about you. I definitely wonder what will happen in a few years as, as the younger generations grow up in this country? Do you think they will be more armenian than me? or more canadian than me? Don't you think they will also have a hard time finding a middle ground? When most friends, schools, jobs, and acquaintainces are part of a different culture than ours? Lets see what life will bring! Good luck to you all! and may God give you patience to deal with these children's frustrations as the years pass!

I'm sure me posting this will do little to resolve the issues that have come up, and if I've offended anyone sorry. But I am also entitled to voice my feelings regardless of my upbringing, age and any other excuse you may come across!

I just got this email and thought it was quite touching. Instead of forwarding it off to everyone, I decided to post it on here. Take a moment and think about it ... the message is very true!

So 1 more day until I am in BC wohoooooooooo, see you guys there and don't forget Sharks Club on Nov 11 in Langley. Rachel we're going to have soo much fun!

I won't have access to the internet while I'm there, so just give me a shout at my parents place or on my cell and we will get together!

Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it.

From a distance, each looks like every other horse. But if you stop your
car, or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing. Looking
into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has
chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This
alone is amazing. If nearby and listening, you will hear the sound of a
bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes
from the smaller horse in the field. Attached to her halter is a small
bell. It lets her blind friend know where she is, so he can follow her.

As you stand and watch these two friends, you'll see how she is always
checking on him, and that he will listen for her bell and then slowly walk
to where she is, trusting that she will not lead him astray. When she
returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, she stops occasionally and
looks back, making sure her friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell.
Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because
we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges. He watches
over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in
need.

Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell of
those who God places in our lives. Other times we are
the guide horse, helping others see.

Good friends are like this. You don't always see them, but you know they are
always there. Please listen for my bell, and I'll listen for yours.

Silva's Birthday @ Level

Howdy all :-)

So on Saturday night a bunch of us got together for Miss Silva's B-day. I must say that it was an awesome night. Except for some crazy drama on the way home ... and wondering the streets of downtown Toronto trying to find a couple drunk girls until 4am it was great.

Level is a kick ass club!!! The music is awesome, and the people there are good to look at, plus quite a few have some pretty shnazzy dancing skills  We decided to do bottle service VIP at the club this year, and to be honest with you although the price is severly inflated, it was worth it. We had a place to sit, chill that was ours no coat check, no line ups and when you want it people willing to bring you drinks. How is this a bad thing?? One down side was that Silva did not get her pole to dance on ... this was something that she has been talking about since we went to Level over the summer. Unfortunately, that section was already booked .. so instead she was dancing on top of the booth seats (there was this platform area in between the booths that people could stand & dance on). Her outfit was quite daring I must say ... but the girl has guts and was having a blast, so who cares. The only bad part about this club has to do with the floor plan ... however this is the crappy part about most clubs in toronto. The bathrooms are upstairs ... can you imagine a person crazy ass drunk, knowing they have to puke but have to move through a sea of bodies, climb up stairs and find the bathroom?? Not soo smart for sure!

I was slacking, no crazy outfit for me. I was all for confort on Sat night ... the weekend was too busy for me to worry about lookin good. So black pants, my trusty old boots that are completely scuffed up but confy and a tank top covered my getup, and I was smart this time round. Curly hair baby hehehe. Seriously what is the point to straighten my hair when after an hour of dancing and sweating ... guess what I got frizzy hair.  As for whent he pic's will be posted??? I'm not too sure, it will depend on when Silva's boy adds them up to his site. As it looks it might not be up until I'm back from BC.

I have added another pic folder, this is from my cousin Sylvia's visit to Toronto last week from Belgium. Most of it are family pics ... so for most it won't interest you. But for others who know my family enjoy. Taline & Levon have grown up soo fast! It is crazy to think I used to hold those 2 as babies years ago ... ohh man I guess that means I'm getting old too. Ahh well what can you do. Also my cuz Alex's kiddies are growing up too in the year and half that I've been here the changes are crazy! So enjoy ... there are quite a few pics in the folder sorry I didn't have the time to filter some out, I just copied the entire folder on here.

Ohh btw .... it is 4 days until I'm back home :-) I can't wait, I definitely miss BC, family, and friends and am looking forward to being back!

ciao for now!!!

...

Hey there people.

I am sooo tired!! I just spent the last 5 hours at the hair salon, I no longer have roots wohooooooo :-) This is always an exciting thing, however the girl that cut my hair went a little crazy with the thinning sizors. So for those who know what that is ... I now have a lot less hair then when I started. To be honest with you ... it is more than I wanted to get cut off, but luckily it grows fast. Nothing exciting has been done with the color, just the same old brown base with blonde highlights. So now it is just after 3pm here and I have yet to sleep today  Lets see how productive work will be tonight.

So miss Rachel, you started drinking without me huh?? Ohh well I forgive you, and if I definitely think you should go to the sex show in Vancouver when it comes out. It is something to see, plus it never hurts to know what is out there   As for Nov 11, I am excited too!!! It has been a long time since I've gotten intoxicated and been around good friends that I've known for years. I have no idea who will actually come out, as very few have responded to my email. So you never know Rach it could just be you and I :-) Imagine all the trouble we can get into?? hehehe ohh it's gonna be fun for sure!

Well sleep is calling! So see you guys soon. Less then 2 weeks to go now.

Ohh and miss Jenny, I hope you kicked ass on your exam last week! That you've had fun on your trip and are rested enough to tackle the last few exams before school is out! Just think you have 2 weeks to go as well hehehe.  Good luck babe! I know you can do it.

Hmm Shall we compare???

Hi there everyone :-)

What's happening? I just thought I would update on my weekend endevours. On Friday night I went to the Toronto "everything to do with sex" show. Now I was curious how Toronto does this stuff compared to Vancouver. I'll give you this, the shows are way more livelier here in Toronto compared to Vancouver. I am quite sad to say that I missed the fireman show  However, I did manage to get my pic taken with 5 very sexy looking French Canadian strippers. I can't post it on the blog, because it is on a pollaroid. But it was a fun experience over all. Hey the booze was even cheaper here ... so that was impressive. I appologize for the lack of pics since no digital camera was taken with us, but for those who have gone to 1 show, it is all the same. Just different people ... the toyz seemed the same to me.

Ohh the one thing that I noticed here was that the show attracted a much younger and sexier crowd! Not that many cougars, or scarry looking people. I definitely had fun checking out both male & female's as they were all dressed to impress! The S&M section was off to the side, which is nicer than right in the middle of the show as it was a few yrs back in BC.

Beyond that my weekend consisted of seeing the aunts and getting some homework done.

Hope everyone had a good weekend and are not too sad that monday is here once again. I know I am hehehe as I'm goin to work tonight baby.

ciao for now.

Ohh I almost forgot ... most of you would've already gotten an email from me inviting you guyz out to Sharks in Langley on Nov 11. I hope to see many of you there! The count down has begun ... less than 3 weeks now

Do you think a person can be blown away?

Howdy all !!

Once again I have been avoiding the good old online world ... I know that isn't soo nice of me. But things have been a little busy, and will only continue on that way. I am happy to say that the semester is just about half way over, which means I am that much closer to finishing and graduating   Wow what a nice feeling!!!

Of course that doesn't mean that I will stop, as most of you know I don't know how to live an easy life. So once this course is finished, I will begin to take some courses that will be more work related, and when life seems a little more stable I'll continue on with my degree. The ones who are close to me know what my plans are at this point, all I have to say is .... I hope my plans work out the way I want them too.
There are days when I really wonder, or spend a little too much time thinking about what others have said. Let me tell you ... it would be very easy for me to lose my mind, it seems that I always get the negative support. Or the sarcastic, fake support ... where you know the person will just jump with joy when you fail.

Ok that is enough negative talk!!!

On a more positive note, I have added 2 new picture albums for your viewing pleasures. The Q4 royal performance album actually has a rather entertaining picture mixed into it all ... see if you can spot it  Those who are involved, don't get mad ... just enjoy the laugh it was meant to give. The other album is from my trip to Kingston to visit Sandra, Shaun, and Jack. We had a great weekend, and I must say that Kingston is a beautiful place, really reminded me of BC, and I love the quaintness there. The fact that there are so many jails in the town is a little unnerving, but not much you can do about it. I will be adding yet another pic folder hopefully by tomorrow, and that will be of the RBC Galla I went to last month, this is similar to the ones I used to go to in BC where some of the top performers of RBC are chosen to go on a Caribbean cruise. A great opportunity to schmooze with other big wigs, and network for future career goals. Our boss Darren was actually a winner this year, so in Jan he will be gone for just over a week soaking up the sun while we are all freezing our butts off here in Toronto.

speaking of freezing ... today had been quite chilly!! My friend Mike was up during the day and said that we had some flurries around 3pm. Crazy business!! Ohh and the wind today is nuts, seriously seems like the building is shaking. Which brings me to my title for this blog. Do you guys think that the wind can actually blow you away?

Hmm ... that is about it for now. I will be visiting BC next month for a week, and will hopefully be able to see everyone at that point. No trip back during the holidays this year. Well at least I will have a white Christmas here in Toronto.

ciao for now

Oh where oh where did our summer go???

Heya folks

So I realized that once again time has flown by ... I don't know what to tell you. I'm still rather dissapointed on the summer that we had here in Toronto this year
Last year was nice and hot!! We'd be walking to Timmy's at 2am in a tank top no jacket/sweater and thinking man its still boiling out .. not this time round. Wonder what that will mean for our winter?? Some have suggested the winter is going to be deadly this year!! In a way I'm looking forward to it, since I do love the snow .... plus I don't drive in it, so makes no difference for me lol.  Ok those who do drive .. don't kill me for wishing for lots of snow ok?? Pleeeeaaasse I do value my life at this point :-)

Ok so it has been quite a while since I posted on here ... not as bad as some other people that we know  Not that I would ever name names hehehe.

hmm where to start?? Well you guys have already seen the pics from Jack's b-day party in Stouffville, that happened on Aug 26. It was a fun night, with a ton of people ... I can't guess how many were there, but there was music, drinks, dancing, and full blown hoochie entertainment :-) So I am goin to go on record here Jack ...(be impressed)... you guys definitely know how to party!! The evening was topped off with some amazing souvlaki on the drive home, thanks again Vatche for driving us up there, and Anoush for driving me home :-)

Then for the labour day weekend, I went to a spot called Tweed ... I spent some time with Silva and her family which was very nice. I will admit that Tweed is an incredibly small town!! I couldn't believe how small until Silva and I were walking down the street and she knew almost everyone there. Crazy business, didn't take any pictures from that weekend ... It really reminded me of how calm and quaint cultus lake area is.

Now, another weekend is almost over  School has started up again ... but I am happy to say that this will be my last course for a while :-)  After this I'll be gettin my Associates Degree, and will stop until I know where I am living on a  more permanent basis. So Friday was a day of relaxing, and doing homework. Saturday was extremely busy ... I woke up early cleaned the appartment, then went to visit my aunts (dad's side), went to Scarborough Town Center to get my eyes checked, the 2 yrs are up and that's when insurance covers me, while there I ended up goin on a shoppin spree  Now that was a lot of fun!! The bank account won't like me too much, but that's alright. After dropping some $$, and finding out that I now need glasses for distance (mainly driving), I headed over to my cousins place for some tasty grub and socializing. Afterwards, Aza (cousin's wife), the little kiddies, and my aunt/uncle came over to see my appartment for the first time. The little ones weren't too pleased with the fact that I don't have a ton of toyz for them to play with, but it was nice. My aunt & uncle gave me a very shnazzy red table lamp which will come in very handy during sudying.

Next weekend I will be heading out to Kingston to visit Sandra, Shaun, and little Jack. It is kinda nice to once again have someone that I'm quite close to living in the same province ... yeah we may be further away, but still gives both of us an excuse to go away fro the weekend and visit each other!  I'll hopefully take a bunch of pics and will be updating the blog afterwards.

I must say these last few weeks has been filled with tons of firsts for me. I rode on the greyhound, went to Stouffville, went to Tweed, goin to Kingston and will be riding on the Via train. Crazy business!! Hope everyone is doing well .... and keep in touch!

Thanks for a fun night!!!

Hello all :-)

So an update on Laura's life, well ... I am now a quarter of a century old. It is definitely a crazy thought, how fast does time fly?? I was just recently looking at some pic's from my 22nd birthday, and how much fun we all had together. I've posted all the pics from last Friday when a bunch of us went to Therapy Ultra Lounge for my birthday, the place was pretty quiet and the music wasn't what we had hoped it would be, however, we had a great time dancing and making fun of some very entertaining people lol. Some of my co-workers surprised me with a birthday cake at the club. Silva said my expression was priceless when they all came out singing happy birthday to me, it definitely wasn't something that I expected.

Overall the evening was a success!! We had some good strong drinks, and a whole lot of fun. Thank you again for those who were able to make it out!!!

Actually my surprises started earlier on in that day. First miss Karen gave me a shout to wish me a happy b-day, and we chatted for a bit, as always events like this sometimes make me a little homesick.  Then it continued when I picked up a package from Jenny at the post office. She had told me to keep an eye out for it and hoped that it would come in time for my birthday. It did, and I was very touched .. Jenny has slowly learned the skill of writing nice long comments in cards, and the card she chose was awesome, definitely had me shedding a few tears. My surprise was in a very nice looking tin box, at first I thought it might be a watch, but its Australia so things could be different down there. I wasn't sure what it might be ... I got a gorgeous FOSIL watch from Jenny and it is KICK ASS!!!!! I've been looking for a nice new watch for a few years now, but never had got around to buying it, so this was the perfect timing. Thanks again babe!! Then miss Silva surprised me with a very pretty pendant, it has 4 hearts kinda shaped like a 4 leaf clover in a circle, very pretty and sparkly. I must say the bling bling this year was very cool

There are a ton of pics this time round since 2 people had brought their camera's to the event, have fun looking through them. I'll say sorry from now for some of the semi drunk pic's and for some of the bumpin and grinding ones that I was having fun posing for. Thanks for being a great dance partner Silva.

I also would like to say thank you to everyone who sent a quick best wishes to me, it was nice to know see that distance doesn't effect friendships!!

Time to celebrate!!!!!!!

Howdy all :-)

I thought I should let everyone know that my course is finally over!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my goodness I seriously thought this one was going to kill me. I know Jenny & Karen ... you two are probably laughing and thinking yeah right! We've heard that before lol, well it's true :(

I've actually been home from work for 2 nights now, last night I was sicker than a dog couldn't keep anything in me and had one of the worst headache's I've had in a long time, then today I was supposed to write my final exam online. As usual there has to be problems, the computer system was down. Originally you are supposed to have access to the exam from 6am to 11pm BC time, but at about 2pm when I went online to write the exam the system decided to go down. I emailed my prof and asked what I should do, her lovely response was. "hmmm I'm not sure, I'll get back to you for that one gotta call the tech people" wouldn't you feel confident with a response like that? Anyways to make a long story short, the system was back up and running by about 8:30pm Toronto time. Luckily I had booked the night off for my final, because it took me just under 5 hours to complete. grrrrrrrr Such an annoying thing when you have to compose 4 essays with a min of 1300 words each for a final exam. Why oh why do I get these kinds of profs?

Well it's done now, all I have to worry about for the next 3 weeks is work and nothing else :-)
time to celebrate is an understatement!!!!

Ok so it's 3am here, and since I'm not at work ... I'm gonna catch some zzz's so I hope everyone is doing well, and having a good week.

ciao for now
Laura K

P.S. I hope to have the Caribana pic's up by beginning of next week, so check back then.
